WindsurfingWindsurfing at Low Port takes place on Linlithgow Loch, which is located a short walk from the centre. The Loch is an ideal location for learning windsurfing due to its size and sheltered nature. Low Port is registered with the Royal Yachting Association as a Recognised Teaching Establishment. Our current fleet of stable windsurfers allows us to cater for those at beginner or intermediate level. Junior CoursesDuring our summer activity programme we run a number of windsurfing courses for children aged 12 year and older. Level 1No previous experience is required for this course. This course will help you get to know about your board, the sail, the wind, and sailing. Level 2Having done a level 1 course or even had someone show you the basics and would like to do a bit more before you think you?re ready for level 3. Then this could be the course for you. Level 3You should be able to sail on all points of sailing in light winds. Beach starting, improved stance, harnesses, using the dagger board and improving your tacking and gibing are all included in this level. Oh did we mention some more theory? Adult WindsurfingThe youth scheme is designed for under 16s. Windsurfing, however, is a fantastic sport for all ages and walks of life. With the right instruction, the right equipment and regular time on the water you can progress very quickly. Start WindsurfingThis course is an introduction to the sport. It will teach you the basics so that you are up and sailing ASAP! Intermediate - non-planingTo do this course you should be able to sail on all points of sailing in light winds. It will make your windsurfing faster and more fluid. New techniques such as the beach start and harness work will gear you up ready for the excitement of blasting control. Intermediate - planingThis is the course for you if you are a competent non-planning sailor. Your harness and footstrap techniques combined with improve stance will get the board really planing. Windsurfing ClinicThis will be a tailor-made day or evenings to allow you to brush up on existing skills and maybe learn some new ones. Schools and Youth GroupsWe are able to offer windsurfing as a half day or full day introductory session. By arrangement we can organise certificated RYA courses that would run over a number of days. |
