Indoor Climbing Wall

The Low Port Wall was built in 1999. It is about 6 metres high and 18 metres long with 17 top ropes.

There are approximately 50 climbs; some quite easy, some extremely difficult, grades 3 to F6c. Something for both beginners and experts alike.

Our wall is predominantly used by groups visiting the centre under the supervision of one of our qualified staff. Over the winter months it is open for public access on a Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6.30pm - 9.45pm. In order to come along to a public session you need to become a registered user.

Climbing shoe and harness hire is available during public sessions.

How to become a Wall User

a) Adults 18+ experienced climbers:

Experienced climbers can become a wall user by coming along on one of our public sessions, allowing our Wall Supervisor to confirm you can put on a harness, tie in and belay; and completing a registration form which the supervisor will sign.

b) Children between 14-17 with experience:

You may become a wall user as above but you will be required to gain parental consent in addition to having the Wall Supervisor confirm your skill level.

c) Children between 8-13

Must be accompanied by an adult user.

d) No climbing experience?

Adults 18+ and children between 14-17 can take part in a climbing wall induction course which, on completion, will bring them up to the standard required to become a registered user.

Climbing Wall Induction courses are programmed to meet demand.
