Adventure Racing

Over the last 10 years the number of 'adventure race' events being run in the UK has steadily increased.  Adventure triathlons, urban adventure races, multi-day expedition races, point to point adventure challenges to name but a few.  The majority of these events involve mountain biking, trail running, a bit of paddling and sometimes a bit of climbing or abseiling.   Most of them also require basic navigation skills to get around the course.  For most of us the biking and running come fairly naturally with a bit of personal training but the skills required for kayaking and abseiling often require a bit more input and practice.

This year we are offering a number of 'Ready to Race' courses to help you prepare for the up and coming season.

The courses will focus on developing your skills in the following areas:

  • Navigation, on bike and on foot
  • Abseiling
  • Basic trailside bike maintenance
  • Basic kayaking handling

A number of our staff are experience racers and can help advise you on what you need to take part in your first event.  They can also advise you on what events are taking place.

The centre is currently in the planning stages of running a West Lothian Adventure Race, watch this space..........
